Brighton Microdermabrasion skin exfoliation

What does Dr. Hallam say about Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion involves the passage of micro-fine aluminium crystals across the skin; super exfoliating it and vacuuming away old cells. The physical stimulation increases circulation and promotes collagen and elastin production, leaving beautiful smooth radiant skin.

Because there is no downtime after a microdermabrasion treatment, it is ideal treatment to freshen up the skin before a big event. You can even apply your make-up immediately after the treatment.

Microdermabrasion can also be used as part of a skin care maintenance program or as part of a more serious intensive course. When used in combination with an Agera skin peel, the results are more noticeable.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a pain free treatment that exfoliates the skin. A handheld device consisting of a pump and a vacuum is slowly passed over the skin. The pump propels micro-fine crystals into the skin, removing the top layer. The vacuum then sucks up the exfoliated skin cells.

How does Microdermabrasion work?

By exfoliating dead skin cells away, microdermabrasion helps to stimulate the rate of skin rejuvenation. The production of collagen is also stimulated by the treatment. The result is skin that looks and feels smoother and has a healthy glow.

Which areas can be treated?

Microdermabrasion is an effective treatment for:
bullet  Improving the appearance of superficial scars
bullet  Improving the appearance of brown spots
bullet  Acne scars and active acne

Microdermabrasion can also be used to:
bullet  Treat sun damaged skin
bullet  Even out the skin tone
bullet  Treat fine lines

When used in combination with a skin peel, microdermabrasion is a particularly effective treatment for acne.

How is Microdermabrasion administered?

The area to be treated is first cleaned and then micro-fine aluminium crystals are propelled across the skin using a hand held device. The crystals exfoliate only the very top layer of the skin so there is no noticeable damage to the skin. The treated area is then cleansed with a wet cloth to remove and residue that may remain. A re-hydrating toner is then applied to the treated area.
The treatment usually takes about thirty minutes to complete.

How long do the effects of the Microdermabrasion treatment last?

After the first microdermabrasion treatment, your skin will feel softer and smoother and a small improvement should be noticeable. After a course of treatments, the skin will start to look noticeably better.

The skin usually regenerates every month, so the effects will last for about a month.

How safe is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is not known to have any serious side effects, but the skin may be pink for the first twenty-four hours after the treatment. This usually resolves in a day of the treatment.

Unlike some other skin care treatments, no substances are injected into the skin.
